Confidential counselors
Who are the confidential counselors?
Hi,
What is a confidential counselor intended for?
Our confidential counselors are there for employees who have reports or complaints about undesirable behavior such as: aggression and violence, sexual intimidation/unwanted intimacies, bullying and discrimination.
De Confidence always treats employee information confidentially. There is a duty of confidentiality. Action will only be taken if the reporter agrees.
Accidents in the workplace
What is an 'accident' and when do I know if I need to report it?
If you see that a dangerous situation may arise somewhere, report it. This way we can prevent real accidents. You follow the procedure as above.
Examples of (near) accidents:
- A quay employee falls (almost) into the water, no injuries or hospital required.
- An electricity cable is loose
- A passenger slips on the stairs, leaving her with a bruise
- You get stuck between a rope
- You slip on ice on a bridge
- The tile is loose at the public boarding point
Where can I report workplace accidents?
Accident insurance
Flagship Amsterdam has accident coverage that applies to the owners and staff on the payroll.
This insurance provides a one-off payment if an owner/employee becomes permanently disabled or dies due to an accident on board.
The coverage does not apply to self-employed persons. If a self-employed person is interested in insurance in the event of loss of income, they can contact us without obligation EOC verzekeringen
Boat insurance
What kind of boat insurance does Flagship have?
What do these insurance policies entail?
Third party liability + hull coverage
Damage to the vessel and damage caused by the vessel to third parties are covered.
In other words: in the event of a collision between a Flagship sloop and another tour boat, for example, both the damage to your own Flagship boat and the damage to the other tour boat are covered.
P&I coverage among other things, liability towards passengers is covered.
In other words: passenger falls on board and suffers injuries as a result. If Flagship is to blame for the fall, the P&I insurance will provide cover for this.
What are general exclusions from coverage? (In other words, when does the coverage not apply?)
For both coverages, intent and damage resulting from consciously reckless conduct are general exclusions. Damage caused by crew under the influence of drink or drugs is also excluded.
Furthermore, the cover only applies if the vessel is sufficiently equipped and manned for the waterway in which it is located. This includes, among other things, sailing qualifications (e.g. you are in possession of the correct certificates, you are sailing in the correct zone within Amsterdam).
Practical examples:
Chris is sailing on the IJ with a small boat license and a collision occurs. You are not allowed to sail on the IJ with a small boat license, so you are not insured.
Tom sails on the Salon boat “Agatha” on the IJ and has a Large Boating License. Although he is allowed to sail on the IJ with his certificates, the “Agatha” is not authorized to sail on the IJ. You can see this in the boat papers. Other boats that are not allowed to sail on the IJ are the Dutchman, Greenmarine, Rosalie, Mana, Bartolotti and the Vording*
Lisa finishes work and sails the boat back to port. She decides to open one beer, just because it's fun. You are not insured if alcohol is involved.
Fernando is no longer on schedule and decides to sail faster than allowed. You do not follow the rules, this can be seen as reckless behavior.**
Jip sails for Flagship Amsterdam on a boat from another party. Jip is aware that this boat may have different insurance.
* Please note: permits may have changed in the meantime. Therefore, always check your boat papers
** Any skipper who does not adhere to the rules (as determined by law) may consider that he or she is not insured.
I am self-employed, does the insurance also apply to me?
For substantive questions about the coverage, it is best to contact P. van Ruiven of the EOC directly (p.van.ruiven@eoc.nl)
